Metamed was founded by Dr. Sara Ahmed, MD, ABIM, ABOM — an Internal Medicine physician with advanced training in Obesity Management from Harvard University.
Early in her career, Dr. Ahmed recognized a fundamental gap: patients struggling with obesity were receiving generic, rushed advice in 10-minute appointments — not the precision medicine they deserved. She saw the biases, the dismissiveness, and the revolving door of failed programs that left patients feeling broken rather than understood.
She assembled a multidisciplinary team — physicians, dietitians, fitness coaches, behavioural experts — and built the clinic she wished existed. One designed around the patient, not the system.
